The Stuff We Built Weighs More Than All Life on Earth

Every day there appears something made by humans in the world. Highways are getting longer and more filled with cars, cities keep getting taller and wider, we produce and consume more products. Ever wondered the total weight of all things that have been created on Earth? For the first time a couple of years ago, anthropogenic mass on Earth exceeded the dry weight of all organisms on Earth.

Just think about it: all those human-made materials like steel, concrete and plastic may now outweigh all living organisms on Earth. Even plastic alone is double the weight of all animals combined. How were the calculations made? And can we be sure they’re 100% accurate?
